GETTEXT PO FILES / $25 TECHNICAL QA PILOT
Keep the variables.
Find the gaps.
Inspect one PO file for missing variables, duplicate message IDs, blank translations, fuzzy flags and plural coverage. Receive a line-numbered CSV report, a JSON summary and notes separating detected issues from items that need context.
Discuss a PO file brief ↗Inspect the example report ↓One small example. Four findings.
Seven active entries in an original Korean example. One obsolete entry is excluded. Named-variable reordering and escaped literal braces are accepted; missing variables and unresolved entries stay visible.
| Line | Source text | Check | Finding |

Send the conventions first
Share the active entry count, languages, format flags, placeholder syntax, plural rules, deadline and tool restrictions. Start with a redacted sample you are allowed to share. Account access is not needed.
Technical checks identify file-level issues. Translation, native-speaker certification, font coverage, engine integration and screen layout need separate review.

The ZIP includes the Python wrapper, original PO, recorded report, verification results and polib 1.2.0 with its MIT licence. Python 3 is required. The checker makes no external network calls and does not edit the input PO.

Supported syntax and review limits
Auto mode uses python-brace-format, python-format and c-format flags. Unflagged brace or percent syntax in source or translated strings requires convention review. Length modifiers such as %ld and %ls, dynamic widths, unknown directives, ICU syntax and differing singular/plural placeholders are sent to manual review. Mixed automatic and numeric Python brace fields, including nested specifications, and unknown Python conversions are sent to manual review. Source plural expressions are never executed.
This conservative wrapper is not a universal format validator or a replacement for msgfmt --check-format. No findings means only that these checks found no issues within their supported scope. GNU gettext format-checking reference.
